“Isabel Cruz graduated from l’École Supérieure de Ballet du Québec. She just started working with Margie Gillis as part of the Legacy Project. Her creative background has evolved through the years, including dance and music performance. Isabel is also interested and enjoys playing with choreography, design, painting, and photography, all of which she does for her own pleasure but as well as to serve her community. Isabel aims to reach a profound knowledge of dance’s breathtaking language in order to convey her feelings, ideas, and emotions through the practice, and consequently reach a level of communion both with herself and as a consequence with the audience.”

One of my main objectives is to be available; to be in service of the message the piece itself wants to be expressed. When interpreting and creating I’m mainly interested in the intention, after that I try to rejoice in the voyage where the piece takes me, in other words, the architecture that builds into it. Light, design, jazz, textures, architecture are elements that intrigue me. In addition to dance, what truly inspires me is the proposal of life through the present and its millions of scenarios, smells, colors, textures and sounds.

I am curious to work with nature, inside and outside the theater, I am intrigued to collaborate with it. I enjoy using external landscapes as a result of my internal state. I find a deep curiosity in nature's way of moving and I enjoy being surprised by internal and external forces that move through me and with me. In my practice, I like to perceive the studio as a space of reflection and transmutation.

In addition, I find it crucial to share with a group of beings with similar ideas to the ones I chase: to share, to communicate, to create. I believe that when an encounter with oneself happens it is inevitable to share the basic human sensations. I’m interested in getting to know what I can offer through my artistic process and how it evolves being influenced by my surroundings while letting the essence remain. The act of sharing my truth and receiving the truth of others. For me it is crucial to use art to express myself and find my voice.  While working with others, I believe each member of the team has different cultural backgrounds and I find it fascinating to see how we can coincide. I see a huge opportunity in finding out what sound and color will be expressed through the voice of a group. -  The team as a mirror to a continuous inner realization.  -
